Our Talent

BU’s team is a network of collaborators whose collective experience spans the private, public and non-profit sectors. We bring to our services a solid understanding of different organisational cultures and needs, and have a unique cross-sector understanding.

Davina Pilkington, Founder & Director

Davina's multi-sector career started in the non-profit sector,  managing infrastructure projects and developing corporate partnerships. The initial idea for BU was sparked while Davina was working for the City of London Corporation, developing and assessing the impact of Social Responsibility activities of over 50 City firms, as well as working on internal programmes in areas such as Responsible Procurement. Here, she and colleague Corinne Thomas realised a shared vision that they later developed into the foundations of BU.

Davina also has a background in assessing the impact of social finance activities.

“I have worked with Business Unusual on a number of occasions . They provide a unique insight on the perspectives of SME and social enterprise businesses; and the benefits of utilising these type of business models. They provide a highly strategic insight when required and also ‘hands on’ support when strategies need to become reality! I have no reservations about recommending Business Unusual and they will continue to be a valued partner in my role at Mitie.”
